Chloroplast is mainly present in plants. It basically gives the colour green to these plants. The basic function of chloroplast is mainly creating food for the plant. The process is called photosynthesis whereby the plant takes in sunlight and absorbs them. After the absorption, the plant manufactures the food and turns it into carbohydrate.
This process of photosynthesis is mainly completed after the conversion of carbon dioxide in organic compounds. This is basically the conversion of light energy into chemical energy and primarily powerful in the form of sugar. All the plants need light, water and carbon dioxide in order to make food. The process of this food creation mainly takes place with the help of the green pigment which is called chlorophyll present in chloroplast.
The process of photosynthesis mainly takes place in the plant leaves. Many people have a wrong concept that the upper and the lower epidermis cells. However, it is not so. There are other parts of the leaves such as stomates, mesophyll, upper and lower epidermis, vascular bundles and veins.
